Goodbye To This, Hello To That

I've been thinking.

I think I have written more posts for this blog about how I am going to start blogging than actual posts about things. That is a pretty fair reflection of how I handle most things in my life. I get so excited at the start. The researching and information gathering, brainstorming etc get me so excited but I have a TERRIBLE follow through. I have always had the hardest time actually finishing projects or following through with my big ideas. I think some of it is fear of failure and I think some of it is just that I let myself of the hook pretty easily. If I don't try that hard or put minimal effort into the process then I won't be that upset when it doesn't pan out.

I don't think I want to be that person. I want to be a person that has big ideas and dreams and actually follows through with them. I want to kick this habit of quitting things before they have even begun. I know I have great ideas and I know I have the ability to do them so why don't I just DO it?

Goodbye to status quo, goodbye to laying on the couch dreaming about dream jobs and what could possible be. Hello to motivation, hello to letting myself fail, hello to letting myself live to my full potential.

You have to say goodbye to say hello.

People & Airports

From my iPhone, flying over Chicago

We are all just people going places; by foot, by car, by plane. Today I find myself sitting on a bench, by a well hunted outlet, in a random terminal at the Philadelphia airport. I am on my way back from a week celebrating a life long friends special special wedding day. And if experiencing a major life event beside my oldest friend didn't already have me sentimental enough, traveling has my thoughts going a mile a minute. Planes take us home to family, away on great adventures, from city to city for work, but a plane ride to me is always an exciting journey. I don't fly often enough that it has become a laborious task, but it still continues to be exciting for me. There is almost nothing I love more than to watch people going from place to place. With my ever so active imagination I find myself creating narratives for these individuals. Are they going home? Could they be taking a journey to the other side of the world? Will they be happy with where they end up? Are they going home to deal with a family tragedy? Will they have a joyful reunion at the airport? The questions could go on for days, but there is just something about airports always gives me perspective on life. It reminds me just how big the world is and it reminds me of all the possibilities that are just around the corner. It is such a literal reminder of how quickly things can change. Here one second, half way around the world the next. As a girl that tends to get taken with daydreams, I often feel trapped in the day to day routine that my life currently abides by. Get up late, rush to work, sit at my desk, stay late, go home, fall asleep, eat dinner, and start all over again. But sitting here today I am reminded that this is not my forever. Something as simple as a three hour layover on my way back to the Midwest reminded me it was okay to dream again. Because we are all just people pursuing our dreams and we are all crossing paths as we travel to our next destination along the way.

Here's to the daydreams that will become my next adventure!

Saturday Scribbles.

Saturday, September 19, 2015

My day of the week has always been Saturday, Saturday mornings to be exact. When I was little I would dream of my wonderful Saturday morning adventures. I would always get up before everyone else and go to my parents room, they would inevitably be trying to catch a few more minutes of sleep so they would send me off to do a project. I made some of my greatest creative discoveries in those moments spent alone with just me and my craft supplies. Working tirelessly to create a new invention or to just glue a hundred pieces of paper together, I was so excited to spend my time as I pleased just creating what I loved. I miss those Saturday mornings. As I got older I fell more and more into the temptation to sleep away my day and if I had to be awake I was meeting with someone or frantically working on an assignment. I want to take back my Saturday mornings by creating a weekly post that we can share over our coffee that inspires creativity and adventure in all our hearts. So here is the first edition of Saturday Morning Scribbles.

One gals opinion on staying curious as we grow up. P.S. this blog is my new favorite, so chill.

My 2000's Disney Channel fangirl heart was so excited to discover Ashley Tisdale's new lifestyle blog!

I have a life long love of cabins and wilderness living which means when I saw this modern, minimalistic oasis I immediately packed all of my belongs and was on the next flight out...unfortunately only in my mind.

Fall is almost here and I am still very much making my new house into home. I am absolutely loving everything woodsy, textured, and gold. As a long time lover of H&M I was just more than thrilled when they brought their H&M home collection online last year. Now that I actually have a house to fill with their beautiful treasures I have been doing a bit of snooping around the website getting some ideas of what I might want to liter my home with. Enjoy my Autumn picks!
